In addition to mainstream activities outlined above the government of Bangladesh has also assigned some specific responsibilities on the SSRC. These are:

(i) to provide all necessary secretarial support to the Planning Division as the GOB focal point and the Secretary, Planning Division as the National Contact Person to pursue the follow-up action of the World Social Summit.
(ii) to provide all secretarial, research, training and management support to the Planning Division in connection with supervision and coordination of recently SAARC Social Charter in Bangladesh. SSRC has very translated SAARC Social Charter and published the Bangla Version for use by the Govt, NGOs and other Members of the Civil Society.

Training in Research Methodology:

SSRC in collaboration with Bureau of Economic Research, University of Dhaka has been conducting advance course on social science research methodology each and every year on regular basis.

Training in Research Methodology: 

This Council in collaboration with Bureau of Economic Research, University of Dhaka, Department of Sociology, University of Rajshahi, University of Khulna and Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development, Comilla is striving to impart training in research methodology in the social science disciplines at the post-graduate stages. It also organise refresher courses for the college teachers who are primarily engaged in teaching in social science subjects. So far 20 Courses have been sponsored by this council and the number of persons attended this courses is around 800.
